Hi! If you’ve managed to land here, you probably know me. For those of you who wandered here by chance, I’m Hannah! I’m a twenty-something with my Master’s degree in Public Administration from Auburn University in Alabama. I am currently working in Washington, D.C. as a Public Relations Specialist with the Election Assistance Commission. Even though I adore the South and will want to go home one day, I'm enjoying all the crazy new experiences a big city like D.C. has to offer!
When I started college, I did what any typical college student did. I ate out. I ate out a lot. It didn’t take long for this pattern to wear on a girl who grew up eating at least one southern home cooked meal a day. But where do you begin? I was never one of those children who learned from my mom in the kitchen. It was, unfortunately, never something that interested me in middle and high school. I started by calling my mom on a cold February day when I had a hankering for chicken noodle soup and not the stuff from a can. This was only the first of myriad phone calls to her (that continue to this day, mind you!) for recipes, safety dos and don’ts, and even “where is this item located in the store?!” questions. I read several cooking blogs, some of which are listed in my links section along the right side of this site, that I pull ideas from – however I am notorious for tweaking anything I cook, just ask my boyfriend Andrew!
Thank you for coming, enjoy your stay, and please don’t hesitate to comment, email at hannahmariej@gmail.com, and ask questions!
